Named for its gourd-like "crookedness", Crooked Lake is one of the largest of the ski lakes and covers 802 acres. Steuben County Park, located on Crooked Lake’s southeastern shore, and several other parks in the area make it an ideal spot for camping and outdoor recreation. Steuben County Park and Campground offer overnight and seasonal camping on Crooked Lake. For campers, there are campsites with electricity and water, shower houses, a modern restroom and outhouses. Picnic facilities and hiking trails can be found throughout the park.

Crooked Lake is a ski lake and has three basins. Access to the lake can found at a public boat ramp located at Steuben County Park. There is a public beach for swimming. The beach is hard bottom sand and very gradual.

Fine dining can be found on Crooked Lake at the Captain’s Cabin Restaurant. You can access The Captain’s Cabin Restaurant by road or water. Dine with views of first and second basin.
