Lake James is the largest lake on the Lake James Chain, which also includes Jimmerson Lake, Snow Lake, Big Otter Lk and Little Otter Lk. Lake James consists of 3 basins. The first/lower basin is in Angola. The second/middle basin is partially in Angola and Fremont. Second basin is connected to Jimmerson Lake by channel. The third/upper basin is in Fremont. Third Basin is connected to Snow Lake By channel. There are sandbars on all three basins, where you can auger down and socialize with other lakers. The main sandbar is on the first basin near the Potowotami Inn. On hot summer weekends there is a food boat at the main sandbar, a volley ball net and lots of music. Other sandbars are smaller and less crowded.

Lake James: Ski lake, 1,039 Acres of Surface Water Area with an average depth of 27 feet and a maximum depth of 88 feet.
